About Mexican Language

One day, an idea was born. From this idea, a hope; with the hope, a dream was born. The dream was to produce a service for all of Mexico’s friends who speak another language and wish to learn the authentic Mexican language.

Mexican Language Teacher CarlosThe concept was born on the beautiful Mazatlan, Sinaloa beaches during the sunny days in the year, 2004. The clear intention of the concept was to be part of the social and economic development of this sea-port city.

The project’s base is to teach the Spanish language by creating a system to not just teach the language as such; but a system that shows the essence of a Country and its friendly people through the day to day lives of one of the most beautiful and colorful Mexican seaports: Mazatlan, located in the wonderful state of Sinaloa.

Certainly, the official Mexican language is Spanish, but all of us who were born and live here know, we do not speak the Spanish the people speak in Spain. This is the reason why this idea was born, because it is based around the authentic ‘Mexican’ language spoken in Mexico.

How did this binomial come about? The first student, an American, Charles Garrison who used the system called it ‘Mexican Language’. Charles “Carlos” Garrison is a retired ‘Gringo’ who ‘accidently’ found Mazatlan and decided that this was the place he wanted to spend his ‘Golden Years’.  Although his background is in the Printing Industry, his hobby is photography and this ‘Pacific Pearl’ offers a lifetime of photo-opportunities.  The decision to live in Mexico also moved Carlos to want to learn the Mexican Language. This notion put him in contact with the woman who would not only teach him, but also invite him to assist her with a very special project…a book.  A book…or should I say, set of books, that would teach, not just the language, but also an insight into the culture, customs and the very lives of Mexico.

Mision

This project, which is named Mexican LanguageMexican Language Teacher Hortencia, has a mission to collaborate with the English speaking community who live in Mexico, who visit Mexico, who have contact with Mexican people in their own countries…or, who are considering to live in Mexico when they retire.

This mission is focused to facilitate people who speak English or another language, in the acquisition of the authentic Mexican Spanish as a second language.

The author of this collection, Hortensia Garrison, is a Mexican and a University Math teacher who truly enjoys teaching. Some years ago, she came to Mazatlan and considered this to be the best sea port city in all Mexico. The books are written using this beautiful city as the background, making them homage to Mazatlan, the people of Mazatlan and the visitors who come to Mazatlan. The intent of these writings is to show the world that the Mexican people are good people who work hard, have a lot of talent, and enjoy the company of foreigners who also love Mexico.

Vision
Mexican Language wishes to become and be named the best teaching system that teaches the authentic Spanish as it is actually spoken in Mexico.

Mexican Language desires to be the reason for change in the mind set of Americans, Canadians and other nations of the world in the way they see Mexico, using the fraternity between neighbors as the goal to make hard changes between human beings.

Mexican Language wishes to show how beautiful Mexico is by helping others discover one of the most astonishing sea-ports in Mexico, Mazatlan.

This system wants to become the best guide to show the world this corner of Mexico as a place you have to visit. It is a place to enjoy, with many natural attractions and essence of a country that has its arms open to receive visitors from all over the world with love.
